The changing climate
Our climate is changing. Experts have
been warning of this for some time,
and now we are seeing evidence in the
weather patterns. Much of the blame
for global warming is being placed on
the “greenhouse” effect. Greenhouse
gases such as CO2 accumulate in the
atmosphere in ever increasing concentrations,
causing an increasing proportion of
solar energy to be trapped in the atmosphere
rather than being reflected back into
space.
CO2 is largely produced by burning fossil
fuels such as oil, gas and coal, for
example when they are used in power
plants to generate electricity. 20%
of this electricity is used worldwide
for the purposes of artificial lighting.
And around 1/3rd of this is consumed
by ordinary light bulbs, even though
there have been better alternatives
available for years.
Are you still using ordinary light bulbs
or CFL at home or your work place? If
so, you can easily make the first move
to protect the climate – by switching
to energy-saving lamps offered by LEDvantage.
